September 5, 2025 – Dr. Jonathan Choi, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Vice President of the China Overseas Friendship Association, President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) of Hong Kong, Chairman of the Sunwah Group, attended the 8th Sichuan Overseas Chinese Associations Conference & the First Overseas High-Tech Talent Exchange and Cooperation Week in Chengdu.

Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, and Governor Shi Xiaolin met with Dr. Jonathan Choi and other distinguished guests prior to the opening ceremony. They expressed hope that the visiting guests would continue to serve as a bridge, actively promote Sichuan's opportunities, and encourage more enterprises and talents to invest and pursue development in the province.

Dr. Jonathan Choi emphasized that Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese organizations should actively facilitate deeper collaboration between Sichuan and their respective regions across multiple sectors, including investment, technological innovation, logistics, finance, and cultural tourism. He called for joint participation in the Belt and Road Initiative to help share China's story with the world.

"Going forward, we will further strengthen Sichuan-Hong Kong cooperation by building international development platforms to support Sichuan enterprises in expanding globally," Dr. Choi stated.

Following the meeting, Dr. Choi delivered a keynote speech at the conference's opening ceremony.
