On December 1, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong (CGCC) held "The 53rd Term Board Inaugural Ceremony", and Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, was officially assumed the role of Chairman of CGCC. Mr. John Lee, Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mr. K.K. Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr. Andrew Leung, President of the Legislative Council, and Mrs. Regina IP, the Convenor of ExCo Non-official Members, officiated at the ceremony.
There was a mourning ceremony for Mr. Jiang Zemin, former President of PRC.
Dr. Jonathan Choi said that 20th National Congress of the CPC embarked on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects and brought new chances to Hong Kong. As the CGCC in Hong Kong, it would actively promote the development of the industrial and commercial industries, fully support the HKSAR government in effective governance in accordance with the law, so that to strength drivers of development and raise the capacity of competition.
Served as the CGCC in China on the modernization of the nation and high-quality development, the chamber would assist its members to better understand the policies of Mainland and firmly grasp the opportunities of regional economy.
Meanwhile, the CGCC is striving to be CGCC in the world, and help Hong Kong to carry out go global and bring in strategy, by fully using the international network and the advantage of familiar with global trade and laws. To have closer ties with other countries and places and assist the HKSAR in joining RCEP, DEPA and CPTPP early, the CGCC would host forums and organize exchange delegations with mainland China and overseas, so that to build a more internationalizing Hong Kong, contribute to the development of GBA, and co-explore the business opportunities with ASEAN, RCEP and countries along the Belt and Road.
