On August 1, the Hong Kong Underwater Performing Arts Association (HKUPAA) celebrated its grand opening at AquaBeat waterfront event space in Kwun Tong, marking the launch of Hong Kong's first professional underwater performance troupe ("Hong Kong Underwater Performing Arts Troupe") and its first permanent underwater theatre ("Hong Kong Underwater Performing Arts Theatre").

Mrs.Jocelyn Choi, Founding Chairman of HKUPAA, delivered the opening address. The organizers expressed confidence in empowering the troupe and theatre to produce more original works, with the ultimate goal of establishing Hong Kong as the Asian hub for underwater performing arts.
