On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Beijing Film Academy and the 110th anniversary of China's films commemoration celebration, Sunwah donated RMB10 million to the Beijing Film Academy (BFA) to establish the Jonathan KS Choi Film Cultural Centre. The Beijing Jonathan KS Choi Film Cultural Centre leverages the strengths of the BFA and its special characteristics of "film art" to help nurture film talents to international standard, and to promote exchanges in film production and development.
The donation ceremony was held on 2 August 2015 at the BFA. Nobel Laureate and Sunwah chief adviser Professor Yang Chen-ning and Mrs. Yang, guests from the State Council, Beijing education officials, and Beijing Consulate officials from Singapore, France, and Vietnam attended the ceremony.
Dr. Jonathan Choi expressed his concern to support China's education and technology for half a century. He expects to establish a deeper cooperation with the BFA for training film talents and enhancing the film industries. BFA's party secretary HóuGuāng-míng stated that the BFA was well-known as the "cradle of China's film talents". Its high standard in film education and scope stands number one in China. The Centre is a great step to drive BFA to develop into world class in art education development.
Beijing City party secretary XiànLián-píng stressed that this was a meaningful interaction between Sunwah and BFA, which represented the awareness of public responsibilities towards the community.
