The year 2014 marked the 65th anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. Sunwah continued for the seventh year to sponsor the Hong Kong Phil National Day Concert held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 26 September 2014. 

As one of Asia's foremost orchestras, Hong Kong Phil had arranged a special program to commemorate this National Day Celebration. Pianist Warren Lee, and conductor Ken Lam led Hong Kong Phil in a concert of the Chinese classic the "Yellow River Concerto", a masterpiece expressing the patriotism for a strong China. Soprano Huang Ying sang a number of Chinese folk songs drawing audience's passion and love for the country. 

HKSAR Financial Secretary John Tsang, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR Director Tang Yi Yuan, People's Liberation Army of China Hong Kong Garrison Major General Chu Mao Hua, officiated at the toasting ceremony. They were also music lovers and enjoyed the performance for the whole session. 

Distinguished guests from the political and business sectors attended the Concert, including the Consul Generals from Belgium, Cambodia, Chile, Finland, Greece, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, The Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and representative of the European Union. 

Sunwah pays great attention to social responsibility under the umbrella of Sunwah Foundation. The Foundation covers a wide area of public interests and activities including support for education, art and culture, science and technology, and charities. The concert is another highlight of the Foundation in promoting art and culture as well as in celebrating the National Day.
