
On 6 June, Sunwah's Chairman Dr. Jonathan Choi signed a strategic co-operation agreement with the Party Secretary and Managing Director of the Harbin Electric Corporation Mr. Si Ze-fu at its Harbin Jiangbei Science Research Centre. Prior to the ceremony, Dr. Choi and delegation accompanied by Mr. Si Ze-fu made a visit tour to the historic and cultural exhibition hall of the Harbin Electric Corporation.
During the discussion session, both parties agreed to complement each other's resources and platforms to develop joint projects on energy investment, infrastructure, financial services, high technology and environmental engineering.
The Harbin Electric Corporation was a state-owned enterprise, one of the six main construction projects developed at the time when the Soviet Union gave support to the national development. It met the market demand of comprehensive development, design, production and services and became the largest provision of electricity facilities, and electric driving engine research base. It was a world class high-technology company with core businesses in nuclear power, electric water, electric gas, natural gas, military vessels, electric stations facilities and engineering products. The Corporation was the backbone of national security and economic veins of the country.
