Dr. Jonathan Choi promoted Sino-Japanese Greater Bay Area collaborations

The Symposium on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area co-organized by the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao was held in Tokyo, Japan on 9 April. The event aroused great attention and interest of various sectors in Japan in the development of the Greater Bay Area. Over 1200 executives and leaders from various sectors attended.

Chinese ambassador to Japan Mr. Cheng Yong-hua delivered opening remarks at the Symposium. Guangdong Governor Mr. Ma Xing-rui, Hong Kong Chief Executive Mrs. Carri Lam, and Secretary for Administration and Justice of Macao Ms Sonia Chan made keynote speeches. Chairman of the Union and President of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman and CEO of Japan External Trade Organization Mr. Sasaki Nobuhik, and State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Yoshihiro Seki also spoke at the Symposium.

This was the first joint overseas promotion event by the three governments after the promulgation of the Outline Development Plan of the Greater Bay Area in which leaders of the three places introduced the content of the Outline Development Plan and the development prospects.
