Sunwah sponsored HKPO China National Day Concert and to commemorate Centenary of China's 1911 Revolution

Sunwah, for the fourth consecutive year title-sponsored the Opening Performance of the China National Day Concert presented by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.The Concet was held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 29 September 2011.On this special occasion,the Concert also served to commemorate the Centenary of China's 1911 Revolution.

More than 180 guests from the political and business sectors, including Consul-Generals in Hong Kong attended the Concert. Distinguished VIP Mr. Wang Zhi Min, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR; Mr. Zhan Yong-xin, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in HKSAR; The Hon Stephen Lam Sui-lung, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs and Prof. the Hon K.C.Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury officiated at the Celebration Ceremony.

The Concert program featured composer Bright Sheng's "Never Far Away". He was highly-regarded and an innovative composer who merges diverse musical customs in works that transcend comventional aesthetic boundaries. Joining forces with the Orchestra was harpist Ms.Dan Yu and conductor Mr.Perry So. Ms Yu had performed solo recitals and chamber music concerts throughout the US, Europe and Asia. The second part featured Beethoven's fifth fateful Symphony conducted by Mr Perry So which offered audiences a memorial of the 1911 Revolution and its days to victory.

Speaking at the celebration reception, Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group thanked all friends and music lovers for their unfailing support throughout these years. "The 2011 marked the 54th anniversary of Sunwah, and also the 21st anniversary of the development of its financial section. Sunwah was going through a major restructuring of its financial arm, the Sunwah Kingsway Capital Holdings Limited, which signified a deeper commitment in the Greater China capital market. Just like the 1911 Revolution in Chinam, it opened up a new era for significant proactive changes and development".
