In celebration of Sunwah's 20th anniversary of business development in Cambodia, and in appreciation of the support from the Cambodian government and its people, Dr. Jonathan Choi announced donation of US$1 million and set up the Sunwah Foundation in Cambodia. A series of social projects on charities, education, culture and technology would be launched. 

On 8 May 2013, during a celebration event hosted by Red Cross and the Red New Moon in Cambodia, Dr. Choi presented his first donation of US$250, 000cheque to the Cambodian Prime Minister Hungsom and Lady Hungsom. Sunwah Foundation signed a co-operation agreement with the Ministry of Commerce to set up a Sunwah Centre for providing training and research to officials, and also planned to build a Sunwah Cultural Centre for heritage protection and cultural exchanges activities.
